Traditionally, Agbaja is next to Elerin of Adanla in Elese’s Traditional Council. He is one of the five chiefs that appoint a new Elese as a result of the demise of any ruling Elese of Igbaja.

He is given as many responsibilities as a chief of high echelon in Igbaja Traditional Council. He has about six chiefs under him. He reports directly to the Elese – in – Council. He has a large portion of Igbaja town at the right side of Okeya – Yaru Road and Alere Compound to Igbaja Motor park, including IGBAJA HOTEL (Now Labenson Hotel) as Agbaja ward. He was collecting poll tax from the citizens of this ward for government in the olden days of poll tax.
